I will never forget the first year I spent my summer holidays in the town of my mother, Suflí. It’s a small village situated near Almería in the middle of nowhere. So everybody could think it’s a quiet village, but it isn’t at all. I was really taken with the “Fiestas del Pueblo”*.
*It's a very typical party in the small villages in Spain. It hasn't got any translation.
Later, at night, I went to the "Fiestas del Pueblo". The party started at 1 am. I had never seen something like that: everybody was at the street; the old people were dancing gaily; the kids were running down the streets; both, parents and sons were drinking together at the streets… For me it was an entertaining view. Then, we went with the children. I have confusing memories of that time. I remember that we went to the cemetery and two elderlies women tried to scared us. Our parents didn’t mind were we were because there wasn’t danger. That way of life broke all my molds.
Since then, every year we can, we spend our holidays in Suflí. Anyway, now I have more fun because I already know people there. I can’t wait patiently to go there again!
